2017 in Quilts

Tuesday, January 2, 2018

As 2018 begins, I want to take a quick look back at 2017 by the numbers. My official finished quilt count for the year was...

(insert drumroll)

52 quilts!

Quilts by Laura Piland of Slice of Pi Quilts in 2017

Those 52 break down to: 21 mini quilts, 6 baby/crib or similar, and 25 lap/throw quilts. (There's a lot of variation between the lap/throw though - some as small as 40" square, and some as large as 72" x 84"!)

In addition to 52 quilts, I also made:

4 mug rugs, 9 kennel quilts, 1 table runner, 1 hot pad, 3 pillows, 1 tote bag, 1 badge holder, 12 zipper pouches, 15 quilt blocks (some that may become a quilt in 2018!), 2 marble mazes, 10 felt finger puppets, 58 quilted key fobs, 2 flannel receiving blankets, 4 child-sized pillow cases, 2 soft books, and a few other small items for my boys.

Five of the quilts I made in 2017 are still secret. One gets revealed later this week, and the other four can't be shared until May!

I originally set out to make 17 quilts in 2017, but one led to another (and another...). I'm making the 18 quilts in 2018 goal this year, but I'm also going to aim for making 52 charity quilts in 2018! (More on that soon!)

I also released four new quilt patterns, bringing my total number of patterns to eight.

2017 was a very productive year! I already have several quilts and new patterns in the works. I can't wait to see what 18 quilts (and more!) I make in 2018!
