If you remember, I made this quilt for one neighbor. The second neighbor had her baby a few weeks ago, and I was able to gift a quilt to her over the weekend.

The dad is a police officer, so I immediately knew I had the perfect fabric in my stash!
I did a bit of fussy cutting on the large scale prints to cut out the police and sheriff cars. I was able to cut each one to 4" x 6". I cut the same size rectangles from the other prints, plus red and blue solids too.
I used my bolt of white fabric to cut sashing to go between each rectangle.
Once the top was done, I pin basted it with a red and white stripe fabric for the back and Hobbs Heirloom cotton batting.
Using 50wt Aurifil #2735 Medium Blue and my walking foot, I quilted straight vertical lines just more than 1/2" apart.
Once quilted, I machine stitched the solid blue binding on.
I threw it in the wash with a couple color catchers then added a label to the back.
My five year old held the quilt for a few photos before we gifted it. (My husband has taught him well!)
This is my 45th quilt finish for the year!
The finished quilt measures about 32" x 30" - a great size to use as a play mat for tummy time.
Three neighbors, three new babies, all boys, all born within four weeks of each other! Instant friends!
