I created a pattern for a spooky bat!

The bat quilt block uses traditional piecing mixed with cathedral window techniques!
The bat block would be a fantastic addition to a Halloween-themed quilt, but you could also make many blocks for a Halloween throw sized quilt!
I couldn't resist making an orange and black bat right away!
I had a mottled orange fabric scrap in my stash, and I used Kona Chartreuse for the eyes and Painter's Palette Ebony for the bat. As usual, I pieced it with 50wt Aurifil #2605 Grey.
I absolutely love the unexpected way to use the cathedral window technique to make the curves in the wings and ears!
It's a clever way to get curves without actually piecing any curves! I used 50wt Aurifil #2692 Black for this.
I'm not sure I can resist making just one of these!
I love making Halloween quilts, so the purple/lime/orange quilt just might be put on the list to make this year! (See other Halloween quilts I've made here, here, here, and here!)
