2018 in Quilts

Are you sitting down? I'm going to share with you my final quilt count for 2018! And it's a bit mind-blowing! (But after making 39 baby quilts for charity on the last five days of the year, the number might not be that surprising!)

(Drumroll...)

My final quilt count for 2018 was 105 quilts!

Three of the quilts I made are not shown above, as they are still a secret. One is a secret because USPS lost it. It's been stuck at a distribution center in Florida for over a month, and I can't seem to get anyone to look for it. Womp, womp.

Six of the 105 quilts were in magazines, 16 were made with Island Batik fabrics and ALL 105 were made with Aurifil thread!

I think 54 of the quilts were quilted on my longarm (47 were the Debbie Mumm baby charity quilts), and all the rest were quilted on my Juki TL-2010Q.

I also released four new quilt patterns, bringing my total number of patterns to twelve!

Oh, and I had a baby!

I often get asked how I get so much done. My number one tip is to sew for 15 minutes every day. You'll be shocked how much you can accomplish! (And how often you sew for more than 15 minutes!) My second tip is to get a robot vacuum (I have this one). Ain't nobody got time for cleaning!

Usually I would say my goal for 2019 is "19 quilts in 2019." However, looking at my calendar, I'll likely have that many done before spring!

I'm really looking forward to all that 2019 has in store! It's going to be a great year for quilting!

  4. What a great total. I think you do such an excellent job. And yes, sewing for 15 minutes a day does accomplish a lot in so many ways. Aside from the satisfaction of seeing blocks come together, it is great therapy and gets my mind off anything that is bothering me....oh, and it keeps me from eating when I shouldn't!!!

  5. I have to go to bed now. I'm exhausted just reading about how much you've accomplished!! Congratulations!! I raised 5 kids, sewed all my clothes, the girl's dresses and some shirts for the boys. Worked AND raised my kids as a single Mom but I could never, ever get all that you did done ... Not even today when there are no little kids around every day. You are an amazing woman!! Grats!!

  6. Wow, Laura that is all I can say. I am tired just thinking about them. I would be stuck on picking fabric. 2019 I will be making some quilts for Jack's Basket. I haven't decided on a number, since we are moving from MI to SC in February and have been living in temporary space since last May. Everything is in storage and I can't wait to see what I have. Looking forward to watching your 2019 roll out.

  7. Vacuuming is my *least favorite* household chore, so a robot vacuum might really revolutionize my time (and how clean my house is, ha)! Congratulations on such a productive and inspiring year and I am sure the best is still to come. :)

  8. My boys do the majority of the vacuuming in our house :) It's not always as thorough as I would have done, but hey, I didn't have to do it! 105 quilts is amazing, even without considering the fact that you had a baby and moved, or all the other things you made, too.

I was at BOM this weekend and purchased January McCalls Quilting mag with your pattern published in it and I said “I know this awesome and talented woman!” Congratulations on all you do Laura!

  10. You have me seriously considering a robot vacuum, though I still don't think I would be as productive as you are!!! I'm so impressed with all you are able to create. Congrats on a fabulous 2018 and wishing you well for 2019!
