Have you done any charity sewing this month? I am happy to be adding three more finished quilts to my charity quilt count for the year!

These three bring my charity quilt count to 15!

I set a goal to make 52 quilts for charity this year. You can read more about my plan on this post. I recap my sewing progress on the last day of each month and host a linky party where you can link up any charity sewing you've done too!

I made the two Halloween quilt tops back in March, and the angel quilt top in May. I quilted all three on my longarm (the Halloween ones in June). And this month, I added binding to them so they are officially DONE!

For the angel quilt, I decided to try something new and stitched the binding on from the back. It worked fine, but I don't care for the stitch line that shows on the front.

I decided to switch back to my usual method of stitching in the ditch from the front for the other two. The binding on the back has a larger "flap," but I like the way it looks on the front much better. (You can read about my binding method here.)

All the piecing and quilting was done with Aurifil 50wt #2324 Stone. It's such a great tan that really goes with all the Debbie Mumm fabrics.

My charity quilt count for the year looks like this:

1 finished cat quilt for Emma's Plan
11 finished Debbie Mumm baby quilts (3 here, 5 here, and 3 this month)
3 finished teenager quilts for foster kids

So 15 finished charity quilts so far this year. There is just two months left to go in the year, but I'm still 37 quilts away from my goal. That seems quite daunting to think of making 37 quilts in two months, but I really still think I can get it done!

With these three finishes, I've made a total of 57 quilts so far this year!

  2. Whatever number you end up with, you are still doing so much for those who get to receive their donated quilts. Congratulations on what you have done so far, and Good Luck!
