The Starburst quilt block pattern uses raw-edge applique - a favorite technique of mine!
I think it would be really fun to make a sampler style quilt with loads of different star blocks, but all using the same fabric! But this one looks good as a whole quilt too! Or make just a few blocks for a fun table runner!

For my sample block, I chose Kona solids Lemon, School Bus, and Kumquat from my stash, along with Kona Black for the background.
I traced the stars from the pattern onto the Lite Steam-A-Seam 2 using a lightpad, then pressed them onto the fabric.
My Fiskars scissors made quick work of cutting out the stars.
Pressing the background fabric vertically, horizontally, and diagonally really helps when placing the stars.
I haven't sewn mine down yet, but my 50wt Aurifil in #2105 Champagne and #2235 Orange are perfect matches! I need to get some #2145 Yellow Orange for the middle color!
I love how this star really shines!
