Hello! Welcome to the Quiltmaker's 100 Blocks Volume 15 Blog Hop!
When All Else Fails - Start Over
Last month, I discovered a new account on Instagram called Curated Quilts. According to their website, "Curated Quilts is a printed quarterly journal that will curate a gallery of quilts, share current trends, impart interviews with artists and lend inspiration through techniques and patterns in quilting." They put a call out for mini quilts to feature in their premier issue "LINEAR." I wanted to be a part of it!
Adventurous Applique

This month's challenge for the Island Batik ambassadors was "adventurous applique." I'll be honest with you - I don't like applique. I mean, I love the way it looks - when other people do it! I'm just not a fan of all the steps and time it takes to do. But I am a huge fan of trying new things!

Do you know Leanne at Devoted Quilter? Earlier this month, the senior assisted living home in her community experienced a devastating fire. All 21 residents were safely evacuated, but their home was a total loss. The residents had to find temporary housing, and the employees are now out of work.
Leanne has been a good online friend of mine for awhile. After the fire, I asked her if the residents might need quilts. She quickly came up with a plan and set out on a mission to provide a quilt for all 21 residents!

Furry Friday
Friday, April 14, 2017
Furry Fridays are a two-fold initiative to provide kennel quilts for animal shelters and also help get shelter pets adopted! This week's Furry Friday is sponsored by Benartex Fabrics. Be sure to hop over to their blog and Facebook page to see all the fun they're up to this week!

The first goal of Furry Fridays is to provide kennel quilts for animals in shelters waiting for their forever home. The Small Kennel Quilt Team is a volunteer organization sponsored by The Quilt Pattern Magazine. You can help The Small Kennel Quilt Team by making kennel quilts yourself! Information about the kennel quilt program is available here (no longer available). Kennel quilts are quick and easy to make - and a great use of scraps!
