USA Block Tour - Nevada

After I graduated from college (and BC - before children!), my husband and I moved to Las Vegas. In the six years that we lived there, we visited as much as the state as we could. My quilting journey even started here! From the sprawling City of Lights to the beautiful forests and open deserts, Nevada was home.

Out by the Truckee's silvery rills,

Out where the sun always shines,

I'm excited to share the complimentary "Home Means Nevada" quilt block for the Around the Block - US Tour! This is part of a larger project with dozens of other pattern designers. Each week, a new FREE block pattern is released representing another one of the 50 US states. If you quilt along, you'll be able to make a quilt representing all 50 states!

An Ugly Quilt Challenge + TGIFF

At the end of last month, Prairie Flower Crafts (a quilt shop I love shopping at when I go visit my mom) announced an Ugly Quilt Contest. I've participated in an ugly quilt challenge before, so I knew I wanted to do this one too!

The challenge was to use three one-yard cuts of "ugly" fabric to make a quilt top using one of Fabric Cafe's free 3-yard quilt patterns. The rules for the contest said you could use any cotton fabric, but it had to be made into that exact pattern. I immediately began the quest for my "ugly" fabric!

Heart Postage Stamp - A FREE Quilt Block Pattern!

This month's Quilt Block Mania theme is "Romance." I'm a bit smitten with hearts lately, so I knew my block would need to feature one!

My husband was in the Air Force and spent lots of time deployed overseas. We still have a box of letters that we sent to each over those years. The Heart Postage Stamp quilt block brings back lots of memories from that time more than a decade ago!
