If you're new here, hello! I'm Laura! I design quilt patterns, and I'm a self-proclaimed deal hunter! Be sure to join the popular Quilting & Sewing Deals Facebook group where I post sales, deals, and coupon codes from all around the web!
I made the cover quilt back in September of last year for an Island Batik challenge using AccuQuilt dies. I used scraps of Island Batik fabrics in pinks, purples, and teals long with solid white for the background.
The pattern includes directions for both traditional cutting/piecing AND directions for cutting/piecing if you have an AccuQuilt cutter!
The Ready.Set.GO! AccuQuilt set comes with the cutter and all the dies you need to make the quilt! If you already have an AccuQuilt cutter, then be sure to grab the 4" finished Quarter Square Triangle die to make quick work of the cutting!
Alternatively, if you choose to cut and piece the quilt traditionally, then I suggest a sewing machine laser and Bloc-Loc ruler! Check out this video on my Facebook page for how I use my laser for making half square and quarter square triangles! Get your laser HERE! And the Bloc-Loc ruler I recommend is HERE!
As soon as I finished the quilt, I had many requests for the pattern. <Insert a million excuses here.>
It took a very long time for it to bubble to the top of the to-do list, and the time has finally arrived!
Both printed and PDF versions are in my Etsy shop, and they are also on their way to your favorite quilt shop!
I included a few different mock-ups of fabric colors in the pattern, but I wanted to share even more with you here!
Shown with the Golden Aster collection by Gabrielle Neil Design Studio for Riley Blake Designs |
Shown with the From the Heart collection by Sandy Gervais for Riley Blake Designs |
Shown with the True Colors collection by Tula Pink for Free Spirit Fabrics |
Which colorway is your favorite? Do you have another palette in mind?
The Exploding Heart quilt makes a 72" x 72" square large throw quilt. You just need 15 fat quarters and some background fabric!
