Pretty in Pink!

Thursday, August 8, 2024

I recently went to a quilt retreat, and knew it would be the perfect time to make a quick and easy baby quilt! A relative of my husband recently had a baby girl, and I had made a quilt for their son, so I *had* to make a quilt for their daughter!

I purchased precut flannel squares from Missouri Star, so I just had to sew them together!

It took me less than an hour to have the whole top together! Then I pin basted it with 80/20 batting (from Batting Super Sale) and pink dot minky in blush (from Missouri Star).

I used Aurifil 50wt thread in color #2423 - Baby Pink - for all the piecing and quilting.

My walking foot was perfect for stitching just to the side of each seam for the quilting.

Then I used this pink and white striped fabric for binding that I had in my stash. Don't you love when you have the perfect fabric?!

I machine sewed it on. (Tutorial here.)

And I remembered to add one of my satin labels!

The whole quilt took less than three hours to make from start to finish! The other retreaters were shocked that I got something finished so quickly after arriving!

And in case you were wondering, I think the mama likes it! It's wonderful to see your quilts being used!

  2. Sometimes the simplest patterns are the most satisfying ones. Flannel charm squares to the rescue for a perfectly feminine quilt! Well done!
