For this year's quilt, I started with a Cotton + Steel panel that I've had in my stash for years. I cut one small section from the panel that featured aqua, coral, and gray dots on a navy background. (One of my favorite color combos!)
I made a mini quilt sandwich with a scrap of Warm & Natural batting and a piece of solid navy fabric from my stash. I always pin baste if I'm quilting on my domestic machine, and it was super quick and easy for such a small quilt!
I found that 50wt Aurifil #2783 Medium Delft Blue was the closest color to navy I had in my thread stash.
Then I just started quilting! Using the free-motion foot on my Juki, I quilted around each circle three times, then moved to the next circle. This created a very cool texture with the tiny dots raising up a bit!

The colors were really challenging to photograph, but I found a great coral solid fabric in my stash that matched the tiny coral dots almost perfectly!
I cut 2 1/4" strips and machine sewed it on. (Tutorial for machine binding here.) I actually used 50wt Aurifil #2225 Salmon for that, as it was a really close match!
The finished mini quilt measures just 10" square, and was a really fun way to practice some free motion quilting!
I love how my collection of Pi Day quilts is growing! It will be so fun to have a stash to pull out every year as my boys get older!
I have quite a few other circle-themed quilts that could get added to that stack too!
