The city skyline pattern is so fun, because you get to create your own! Since I live in Missouri, I definitely wanted to include the Gateway Arch! I actually sewed this block up while on vacation! Yes, of course I brought my Juki , Oliso mini , and wool pressing mat with me!

Vacation sewing

I picked all solid gray fabrics for my skyline and used Lite Steam-A-Seam 2 for all the applique pieces.

Raw edge applique

I used 50wt Aurifil thread for piecing the background and stitching down the buildings. This time, I used colors #2600 Dove , #2620 Stainless Steel , and #1246 Dark Gray .

Behind the seams

The blocks are looking good all together!

  5. Your solids create a great dramatic effect. Very pretty. I was born in St. Louis County, so I would definitely want to include the Arch, too.
