Quilter's Project Planner - A Quilty Planner Review

The Quilter's Project Planner (available at C&T Publishing and Amazon) is an undated planner and organizer to help plan, track, and record your quilty projects.

The planner is a good size: 8 1/2" x 11", making it perfect for keeping in a tote bag or on a bookshelf. It's spiral bound, so it lays flat when open - a must for a planner!

My favorite thing about this planner is that the covers are laminated, making them perfect for using wet erase markers! I'm a list maker, so I'm always looking for spots to take notes and make a list!

The planner isn't hardback. The covers do bend and flex some, but I find it to still be strong enough to support it's weight and think it will hold up well. 

The planner has tabs for five sections: My Year, Project Planning, Tracking Logs, My Contacts, and Reference. The tabs are laminated like the covers, and the first page of each section begins on the back of the tab. This means some thought needs to be taken for what pens/pencils/markers will work on those pages. My usual pens don't work well in this case, so I'll either use the wet erase markers or Ultra Fine Point Sharpie pens.

The first section, My Year, begins with the months of the year, where you can record birthdays, weddings, and quilt show dates. Then a larger section for each month follows where you can create a checklist of tasks that you want to complete. This planner wants you to get those UFOs done!

The next feature is another favorite of mine! (Maybe because it's a circle??) For each project that you plan, you can color in the steps of one wedge of the circle as you complete them. The first step is "Plan," and it ends with "Label" and "Share." A fun way to visually see where each project is at, and will be very satisfying to have it all colored in!

The next tab is where all the quilt planning pages are at. There are four pages for each quilt, and a total of 12 sets. Meaning you can plan, track, and record a dozen quilts in one book!

The first of the planning pages has spots for all the quilt's info. There is even a spot for telling the story behind the quilt and adding a photo!

The second page has a checklist for each step in the quilt-making process. (This corresponds to the circle chart in the first section.) There is also a spot for making a shopping list!

The third planning page is a dot grid perfect for adding selvages and scraps. And the final page for each project is graph paper for doodles, sketches, and coloring options.

After the 12 sets of project planning pages, is the Tracking Logs. This section has several really great lists including a spot to record the details of quilt-alongs, classes, retreat info, and quilt shows.

The My Contacts tab has spots to record the info for your favorite quilt shops, sewing machine dealers, service shops, quilt guilds, longarmers, and even your quilty friends!

The final tab, Reference, has some handy charts including standard bed sizes and calculating quilt backing. 

In summary, I like the way this planner is set up to encourage finishing projects, and also record the finish with the quilt's story and a picture. My favorite features are the laminated covers and the Project Wheel to track each quilt's progress!

I do wish the first page of each section was not laminated, but that's a very easy fix with the right pens.

The Quilter's Project Planner is a great tool to organize, track, and record quilty finishes. There is space to plan a dozen quilts, and it's the least expensive planner I've gotten so far! (Find it at C&T Publishing or Amazon.)
