Stay at Home Quilt Block Pattern

Monday, March 30, 2020

I've seen several people making house quilt blocks as a way to remember this unique time in history where millions of people around the world are staying at home in order to stay healthy. I absolutely LOVE the idea!! I hunted around the web searching for a block that conveyed what I wanted, but just couldn't find one. So of course, I designed one!

Slice & Stitch Challenge

Wednesday, March 25, 2020

I am thrilled to be this month's Slice & Stitch challenger! Slice & Stitch challenges are a combined effort between Aurifil and Olfa, and this year Michael Miller stepped in to provide the fabric! Each challenger is given fabric, thread, and an Olfa tool to create something fun! I jumped at the chance to try something new!

Slice and Stitch challenge with Aurifil and Olfa - March 2020

In preparation of the challenge, I received Aurifil's Dolomite Green Color Builder box (with 50wt spools in colors #2908 Spearmint, #1147 Light Leaf Green, and #2890 Very Dark Grass Green), Olfa's Chenille Cutter, and three green fat quarters of Michael Miller Cotton Couture solids (Spring, Lime, and Leaf). I have never used the Olfa Chenille Cutter before, but I love adding texture to quilts! I was excited to try it out!

Face Masks with Fabric Straps Tutorial

Monday, March 23, 2020

A paramedic friend contacted me Friday night. She was crying and scared. They are out of medical masks and had two patients with all COVID-19 symptoms that day. I promised her I would sew as fast as I could before her next shift. She's expecting one mask. I'm making 72 for her whole crew to have enough to change out and wash as often as they need until new masks come in.

I wanted to share a photo tutorial with you to show how I'm making mine so you can make masks too!
