An Island Batik Christmas in July

Saturday, July 27, 2019

As you know, I'm an Island Batik Ambassador this year. As part of the program, I get two shipments of Island Batik fabrics to use in monthly quilt challenges. Today I get to share with you what came in the second box!

This is my third year as an ambassador. Every single time I get a box, I'm like a kid at Christmas!! It's so exciting to get a surprise package full of fabric and other goodies! (Here is the post to see what came in the first box this year.)

This time, I took a video when I opened the box so you can be a part of the fun!

Here's a closer look the things that came in the box:

First is a 10" stack of the "Sand Bar" collection. I absolutely love the dark teals paired with the creams and whites. My design wheels are turning!!

Next is this set of 2 1/2" strips from the Petal Pushers collection. Such bright colors!! I might have to use this one for the August challenge!

Also included were these 1/2 yard cuts from the Basics and Blenders lines. They coordinate with the precuts I got, so they'll be great for binding or mixing in when I need a little extra color.

Look at this amazing bundle!!! Seriously hands on the cheeks - WOW!!

This is FORTY (!!) quarter yard cuts from the Little Sir, Little Miss collection! And look closer at these twelve!

NUMBERS!!

My math-loving heart is all aflutter!! I really want to try and come up with something related to pi for these!

The box also included four yards of each of these!! Solid gray, solid white, solid black, and a batik called "Whip Cream."

Speaking of solids! Be sure to hop over to www.islandbatik.com to see the rainbow of new solids they are releasing soon!! I can't wait to play with those!!

Also included in the box were three battings from Hobbs - cotton, cotton/wool blend, and 100% wool, four spools of 50wt Aurifil thread - #4653 Spring Prairie, #4661 Mint Julep, #2340 Cafe au Lait, and #2460 Dark Carmine Red, AND an Ohio Star Accuquilt die!

The box weighed in at 23 pounds and included 47 1/2 yards of fabric!!

The first box from earlier this year had 47 1/3 yards! That's barely shy of 95 yards of fabric from Island Batik this year!! So over the top generous!!

Be sure to ask your favorite quilt shop to carry Island Batik fabrics!
