Now to share my finished quilt top!

I turned all my blocks into Polaroid pictures! Like a photo album of a vacation!

Quilt blocks turned into polaroid photo blocks

First, I framed each 12 1/2" block with white fabric to make the photos.

For this, I cut 1 1/4 yards of solid white fabric into (24) 1 1/2" x 12 1/2" strips, (12) 1 1/2" x 14 1/2" strips, and (12) 4" x 14 1/2" strips.

Next, I added gray fabric on all four sides of each "photo."

For this, I cut 3 yards of solid gray fabric into (24) 4" x 17" strips and (24) 3" x 21" strips.

After sewing the gray fabric around the photos, I laid my ruler a bit "wonky" under the photo so that the ruler was 1" away from one corner of the photo and 2" away from the other corner of the photo. This created the bottom of the block. After lining up this cut edge with a line on my cutting mat, I then  trimmed it to 19 1/2" square.

Trimming wonky blocks

I repeated for all the blocks, alternating which way I tilted each one.

I love how it turned out! A perfect way to display all the memories of this quilty adventure! I'm hoping to quilt it in the next couple weeks, so be on the lookout for the finished version!

  1. This setting is absolutely brilliant! I love that you gave them all the same angle, and alternated which way they're tipped. It adds a really pleasing symmetry.
