No-Sew Fabric Puzzle! - My NYC Panel Blog Hop

My brain is always thinking up unique things to make with fabric, and I'm thrilled to share with you a tutorial to make a no-sew fabric puzzle!

Gotham Quilts recently started carrying fabric and a panel that feature all things New York City - taxies, skyscrapers, pigeons, and rats! Wouldn't it be such a fun souvenir to get when you visit?!

I turned the fat quarter bundle into a Suitcases quilt! (Get the pattern HERE, and read more about the quilt HERE.)

And now I'm sharing what I made with the coordinating fabric panel!

I started with the panel (which features jumbo images!) and fusible foam. If you only have sew-in foam, you can use it with the addition of a fusible web. Pictured below is the sew-in and fusible combo, but I actually found a scrap of fusible foam in my stash, so used it instead!

To make a no-sew fabric puzzle, you'll need: a fabric panel, fusible foam, an iron, and scissors. That's it!

This is such a simple project to do! First, press the fabric panel to the fusible foam. (I'm using my Oliso iron!) I chose to use the Statue of Liberty image and the taxi from this panel. (If your foam isn't fusible, then press the fabric first to fusible web, peel the paper off, then press it onto the sew-in foam.)

The next step is optional. I used an air erasable pen to plan out where I would cut the panel into puzzle pieces. I aimed for pieces at least a couple inches across, which resulted in about 12 pieces.

The last step is to cut it out! I started by cutting all the way around the image to remove the extra fabric and foam. Then I cut along my planned lines to create puzzle pieces.

That's it! The thickness of the foam make the puzzles easy to put together! My four, seven, and nine-year-olds all loved them!

This is a great activity for kids to do during quiet time. I'm always hunting for quiet activities to take for my kids to do while waiting for an appointment or during church. I'm going to make a few more and add these into our mix!

And maybe the biggest win: this project only took about 20 minutes for me to make!
