I'm in a book!!

Wednesday, May 1, 2019

Yesterday afternoon, I heard the UPS truck pull up in front of our house. Although I've ordered quite an extensive amount of things for my Quilt Market booth (just two more weeks!), I wasn't expecting anything yesterday. He handed me a package from F+W Media and inside was a book - Beyond the Block.

I had absolutely no idea why this book came to me. I first checked the address on the package to see if it was delivered to the wrong address. Nope. Then I checked the author's name to see if it was a friend. Nope. I checked the receipt to see if it was a gift. Nope. So I shrugged my shoulders and fanned the pages.

Then this happened: WHAAATTTTT?!?!?!?!?!? Go back!!!! What was that?!?!? THAT'S MY QUILT!!!

As a complete and utter surprise and shock to me, the "Somewhere in Indiana" quilt that originally appeared in Quilty magazine in July of last year was chosen to be included in this book!! (You can see my post about the quilt in the magazine here.)

Beyond the Block is a compilation of twenty log-cabin inspired quilts that have appeared in various F+W magazines in the past year or so. And since I had no part in the making of the book, I can honestly tell you the book is BEAUTIFUL and so well done!!

I can't even believe the company I'm among! The other contributors to the book include Liz Evans and Elizabeth Evans of Simple Simon & Co., Malka Dubrawsky, Siobhan Rogers, Jemima Flendt of Tied With a Ribbon, Debbie Grifka, Cynthia Brunz, Tula Pink, Gina Tell, Ramona Sorensen, Deborah Fisher, Monika Dunkley, Vikki Burton, Nancy Mahoney, Corey Yoder, Tina Lewis, Lisa Swenson Ruble, and Jacquie Gering.

My quilt is made entirely with chambray. The fabrics are all from the Neon Neppy line by Robert Kaufman. (The quilt includes grey, denim, blue, royal, charcoal, and magenta.)

There's a "Material Difference" feature included in the book which talks about working with the fabric.

I absolutely love how this quilt feels! It's the softest one I've ever made, and it just begs to be cuddled with! It's so deserving of a second publication appearance!

You can get the book from The Quilting Company in both hard copy and digital ebook forms. Or you can get it on Amazon.

I'm so thrilled for this!! It's my first time having a quilt and pattern in a book!! It surely won't be the last!!
