When Kelly of My Quilt Infatuation emailed a few months ago to ask if I'd like to join the blog hop for her Stash Statement book release, I was quick to say yes! I've followed Kelly's blog for awhile now, and I always love to see what she's up to!

A Surprise for Mister Domestic
Wednesday, May 16, 2018
If you follow me on Instagram, you know how quickly I had to make the Moonrise quilt for Mathew of Mister Domestic to get it to Market on time. I received the fabrics in the mail on Friday, and I had to ship the finished quilt out on Monday!
If you follow Mister Domestic on YouTube, then you may know a bit about the story behind his Loved to Pieces fabric collection. One print in the collection has great personal meaning to him. It is a print inspired by mandalas painted on rocks. As soon as I learned that, I immediately wanted to make my Flurry quilt - which is also inspired by painted rock mandalas!
However, Mathew had already picked my Moonrise quilt for his Market booth. But I couldn't shake the desire. I decided before I even got the fabric that I would try to make both!

Moonrise Quilt with Island Batik Fabrics
The story of the Moonrise quilt really begins exactly a year ago when I attended Spring Quilt Market in St. Louis. At Sample Spree (a buying frenzy of all new things related to fabric and quilting) I bought a fat quarter bundle of Menagerie fabric by Rifle Paper Co. for Cotton + Steel. I loved the popularity of the fabric, but I personally didn't love the fabric. I really wanted to design a quilt that would bring cohesiveness to all the prints, but also highlight the vintage vibe of the fabrics. This is when the Moonrise design began.
After working out all the logistics for how to make the quilt (and getting about halfway through making it), I decided to submit the quilt idea to Island Batik for their spring 2018 fabrics. They accepted the design and a funny thing happened. I liked the computer mock up with the Island Batik fabrics much more than I liked the original quilt I was working on!
Moonrise Quilt with Art Gallery Fabrics
Tuesday, May 15, 2018
A couple weeks ago, Mathew Boudreaux (aka Mister Domestic) posted a shout out on Instagram looking for volunteers to make something for his Quilt Market booth. Mathew's first fabric line, Loved to Pieces for Art Gallery Fabrics, is debuting at Market this week. Based on when he expected to get yardage of his fabric, the makers would have just one week to make their projects. As you know, I can make anything in a week! So I volunteered to make my Moonrise quilt, a new pattern that's debuting in the Island Batik booth.
52 Charity Quilts in 52 Weeks - April
Monday, April 30, 2018
This month, my charity sewing time was spent making one special quilt. In February, Christy's eight-year-old daughter passed away from the flu. Christy is a member of the quilting community on Instagram, and decided she would collect kitty quilt blocks to make quilts for all of the students in her daughter's class by the end of the school year. I knew I needed to help by making a quilt!

This month, Cotton Cuts, a monthly fabric subscription box, sent me a free Modern Maker box as part of their ambassador program! In exchange, I just had to make ANYTHING I wanted! Um....deal!
Vintage Made Modern
Tuesday, April 24, 2018
This month's Island Batik Ambassador challenge was to be inspired by a vintage quilt. I admit, I struggled to find inspiration! A few weeks ago when I was hunting for just the right inspiration, my mom purchased a box of quilt paraphernalia at a flea market in Kansas. It turned out, this box was a quilter's personal collection of patterns and homemade templates from the 1930s! She sent me a stack of the patterns in hopes it would be just the ticket - and it was!
