After sharing about my new Kitten Cuddles quilt, I realized I never shared the Puppy Kisses quilt on the blog!

The dogs all have floppy ears - and I LOVE it!!
This quilt actually started back in January. A local mom shared that her newborn son had been diagnosed with cancer, and he was going to have to start chemo at just two weeks old! The thought of that as a fellow mom was heartbreaking, so I reached out to her to ask if I could make a quilt for her son. She graciously accepted the offering.
The quilt pictured above and in the two photos below was what I designed and gifted to him. Now that it's been almost a year later, I can share that her baby is healthy and cancer free!!
Immediately after gifting the quilt, I knew I wanted to turn it into a pattern so others could make this super cute quilt for kids they knew! (Get the pattern in my shop HERE!)
I used turquoise, navy, and green fabrics from my stash for the nine-patch blocks for the cover quilt, and minky and sherpa fabrics from JOANN for the puppy dog ears.
The faces are raw-edge applique, and I just used a straight stitch about 1/8" inside the raw-edge to stitch those pieces to the background square.
I even used some scraps to make matching pillows! (I've since made a whole quilt with the pink and purple fabrics to match that pillow, so I'll need to make another blog post for that one!)
This is definitely my favorite quilt I've made in 2024, and can't wait to see all the Puppy Kisses quilts made from the pattern! You can get the PDF and paper versions in my shop!
Now it's your turn to share what you've finished lately! Link up a blog post, Facebook post, or Instagram post so we can see it and give you high fives!
Puppy kisses is so adorable. I love it.
