What a fun line-up for Quilt Block Mania this month! There more than a dozen bloggers offering FREE patterns for quilt blocks inspired by the theme "travel!"
I named my block "Scenic Route" because it reminds me of a winding road, but it was really inspired by the road sign that my boys call "the wiggle sign!" It means curved road ahead, but whenever we see one, everyone in our car wiggles!

So if want to get some other FREE travel-themed blocks, sew along with quilty friends, and be entered to win prizes, then be sure to hop over to THIS POST to see the free quilt block for that!
My scenic route block has NO curved piecing! It's one of my favorite quilty tricks to get the look of curved piecing without actually piecing any curves!
The block is super quick and easy to sew up. It wouldn't take long at all to stitch up enough blocks for a whole quilt!
The block is made with just two pieces of fabric!
First, you press the edge of the curved piece under 1/4". I used my Oliso mini iron and wool pressing mat for this step.
Then you pin it onto the background square.
And top stitch it down!
It's so quick and easy!
It took longer to take the pictures for this blog post than it did to actually make the block!
Want to make your own Scenic Route quilt block? **Please type your email address and do not use "autofill."
I can't wait to see what you do with this block!
Be sure to check out all of the FREE travel-themed blocks from the other Quilt Block Mania designers! There are such creative ones this month!
