It's time for the second block in the Destination: Quilt Along! This one is a camper, and it really takes me for a trip down memory lane!

April's block reminds me of the teardrop camper my husband and I owned BC! (BC = Before Children!)

We went on so many adventures and have such wonderful memories of that time in our lives!

Our teardrop had a queen-sized mattress inside, and just enough room to sit on the bed (no standing!). There were a couple cubbies overhead for our things. The back hatch opened to a countertop area and a few more cubbies. It was a step up from a tent, but did not have any amenities of a full-size camper or RV.

I chose a few solid fabrics from my stash for this block, Lite Steam-A-Seam 2 to do the applique, and 50wt Aurifil for all the sewing. I used colors #2692 Black, #2605 Grey, and #2105 Champagne.

Of course I had to use light gray for the camper to make it look like our teardrop!

After stitching down the pieces, I used my 12 1/2" square ruler to trim the block to size. I use this ruler for every single block of the quilt alongs!

A peek behind the seams shows off the thread colors.

This was such a quick and easy block to make! The background would be so fun to quilt with some trees or clouds!

  1. And wouldn't the site for that little teardrop be somewhere along the canyon of block one? What a great combination. I've never used a teardrop, but it's tempting when I see them. If only there were a tiny bathroom tucked in somewhere. I'm past the point of wanting to climb out of a warm bed and go out into the cold to find a bathroom spot in the middle of the night!

  2. That teardrop camper is adorable - fun that you have the BC memories! Great block!
