On the second day of Christmas, I made fabric and cinnamon stick Christmas tree ornaments!

Today's ornament is pretty quick and easy! I'm using some leftover 10" squares from my stash of the Figgy Pudding collection by BasicGrey for Moda. I think that collection came out in 2009?!? Definitely time to use it!!
To make one ornament, you'll need:
(1) 5" x 10" rectangle of fabric
(1) cinnamon stick
(1) 5" piece of twine or ribbon
The first step is to fold the fabric in half, right sides together. Use an air erasable pen or other marking tool to draw a triangle. I made mine 5" wide at the bottom and 5" tall in the center.
Cut out both layers to make two triangles.
Make a loop with the twine or ribbon and place it on top of one triangle with the ends of the loop touching the top of the triangle. Lay the other triangle on top, right sides together, and use a sewing clip to hold the layers in place.
Starting at the bottom of the triangle, stitch all the way around, leaving about a 1" opening along the bottom edge. When sewing over the top corner with the twine or ribbon, I like to backstitch on top of it a couple times to give the stitches extra strength.
Turn the triangle right side out. You can use a Hera marker or eraser end of a pencil to help poke out the corners if needed.
Fold under the raw edge of the opening and give it a quick press. Be careful not to iron over the twine or ribbon in case it might not be cotton! You wouldn't want it to melt!
Next is to add a cinnamon stick and a little Poly-Fil stuffing. I used about a baseball sized amount of Poly-Fil. I did not stuff these to be stiff. Just a little bit to make them poof up a bit. Then I inserted a cinnamon stick so that it was sticking out about 2".
The last step is to put a line of glue along the open seams that you pressed under. Use a sewing clip on either side of the cinnamon stick to hold the fabric in place while the glue dries.
That's it! A quick and easy ornament to use up some fabric scraps! And they smell great too! These would be perfect to add to the top of a gift too!
