Welcome to this week's stop on the Sew Much Fun Tour !
I have loved seeing all the blocks in the tour so far, and this week I'm adding a button!
This is part of a larger project with dozens of other pattern designers! Each week (for a whole year!), a new FREE quilt block pattern is released with a sewing theme. Each block is just 6" square, so if you sew along, you'll have a wonderful sewing themed quilt at the end! (Don't miss the giveaway at the end of the post too!)

If you're new here, hello! I'm Laura! I design quilt patterns , and I'm a self-proclaimed deal hunter! Be sure to join the popular Quilting & Sewing Deals Facebook group where I post sales, deals, and coupon codes from all around the web!

To make this block, you can use both the right AND wrong sides of the fabric! It's a fun trick to make the ring lighter in color!
If you're using solid fabrics or batiks, you'll need to pick a lighter fabric to use for the ring though since those are the same on both sides!
I used my AccuQuilt to cut the 1/2" circles for my button holes. I used the same die to make the thimble quilt block too!
This time, I used Heat-n-Bond Lite , but I usually use Lite Steam-A-Seam 2 . Either one works great for this block!
Once fused into place, I used Aurifil 50wt thread and a straight stitch to sew just inside the raw edge of each piece. I used colors Dusty Rose #2452 and Bright Pink #2425 for my pink button, and Dove #2600 for my button holes to match my Kona Silver background fabric.
Here's a peek behind the seams!
Wouldn't a whole quilt of buttons be so fun?! I might not be able to resist making this one!
I love the thimble and button together!
