If you're new here, hello! I'm Laura! I design quilt patterns, and I'm a self-proclaimed deal hunter! Be sure to join the popular Quilting & Sewing Deals Facebook group where I post sales, deals, and coupon codes from all around the web!

I do not do much hand sewing at all, but both of my grandmother quilt by hand, and so I always think of them when I see a thimble!

To get the FREE thimble quilt block pattern, enter your email address in the form below, and the pattern will automatically be emailed to you! (Please do not use autofill to type your email.)

To make my block, I used my AccuQuilt to cut the 1/2" circles so I didn't have to cut those by hand! Many of you had asked for a precut kit of the fabrics when we did the 50 states USA Block Tour, so I'm offering that again! If you'd like to receive some happy mail with ALL the pieces of this block precut for you and a printed copy of the pattern, GET THE KIT HERE!

The kit includes all the fabrics to make the block exactly like mine. I used Kona Silver for the background, Kona Titanium for the thimble, and Kona Steel for the accents on the thimble. All the pieces are fused with Lite Steam-A-Seam 2 - my favorite fusible!

I also used my light pad to place the circles into position. It worked great! (Don't have a light pad? Try this one!)

I stitched all the pieces down with matching 50wt Aurifil thread. I used #1246 Dark Grey and #2605 Grey.

I used a straight stitch just inside the raw edge.

I think it would be fun to make loads of these blocks in fun colors to make a thimble collection quilt!
