The weeks are flying by! It's already week 7 of the Destination: Quilt Along, and this week's block is a city skyline!

If you're new here, hello! I'm Laura! I design quilt patterns, and I'm a self-proclaimed deal hunter! Be sure to join the popular Quilting & Sewing Deals Facebook group where I post sales, deals, and coupon codes from all around the web!

The city skyline pattern is so fun, because you get to create your own! Since I live in Missouri, I definitely wanted to include the Gateway Arch! I actually sewed this block up while on vacation! Yes, of course I brought my Juki, Oliso mini, and wool pressing mat with me!

Vacation sewing

I picked all solid gray fabrics for my skyline and used Lite Steam-A-Seam 2 for all the applique pieces.

Raw edge applique

I used 50wt Aurifil thread for piecing the background and stitching down the buildings. This time, I used colors #2600 Dove, #2620 Stainless Steel, and #1246 Dark Grey.

Behind the seams

The blocks are looking good all together!

Join the fun! Let's quilt along!

  1. The grays make a great city skyline.

  2. Your cityscape looks great! You have a knack for choosing the perfect fabric for each block.

  3. Love your version - the grays are perfect. And, your blocks are looking fabulous. Another fun quilt coming together.

  4. Your blocks do look good together! Love your cityscape! :)

  5. Your solids create a great dramatic effect. Very pretty. I was born in St. Louis County, so I would definitely want to include the Arch, too.
