Heart Postage Stamp - A FREE Quilt Block Pattern!
Tuesday, January 5, 2021
This month's Quilt Block Mania theme is "Romance." I'm a bit smitten with hearts lately, so I knew my block would need to feature one!
My husband was in the Air Force and spent lots of time deployed overseas. We still have a box of letters that we send to each over those years. The Heart Postage Stamp quilt block brings back lots of memories from that time more than a decade ago!

The Heart Postage Stamp quilt block uses traditional piecing as well as raw-edge applique.
I think this would be a great block to use in a sampler style quilt with lots of different heart blocks, but I love how it looks repeated in a quilt too! I even think just one block would make a really fun mini quilt to send to a friend!
I chose four Kona solids from my stash for my sample block - Robin Egg, Wine, Navy, and White.
I also used Lite Steam-A-Seam 2 and two different colors of Aurifil 50wt thread - #2021 Natural White and #1103 Burgundy . (The white is not shown because I didn't want to unthread my machine!)
The block pieces come together really quickly!
Once pieced together, I stitched 1/8" inside the raw edge of the applique pieces.
I really love how the block turned out!
Definitely worth finishing into a mini quilt and sending to a friend for Valentine's Day!
I'll put it on my to-do list for this month! I have a few heart quilt finishes that I love! ;)
